Wine Bottle Light:
We hear it all the time—“Just Breathe.” A simple phrase, yet one that carries so much weight when we’re stressed, anxious, or facing tough moments. Taking a deep breath has a way of calming us, grounding us, and bringing perspective.
For me, these words hold a special place in my heart. After my mom passed, I found myself in my car, lost in thought, when Pearl Jam’s Just Breathe started playing. But instead of sadness, something shifted. The song made me reflect on how lucky I was—to have had my mom, to have incredible people in my life, to love and be loved.
That moment stayed with me. One night, as I sat thinking, I remembered some empty wine bottles in the garage—and an idea sparked. I opened Cricut Design Space, made my template, grabbed a bottle and spray paint, and ran outside. This was one of those moments where inspiration strikes, and you just have to create right then and there!
I have to say this was a rushed job because right now San Anotnio is going through an abnormal weather phenomenon, it has been raining almost every day!
I can also say that I have learned that I am not good at taking pictures - I will get better I promise!
Materials Needed:
Wine Bottle
Cork Light
Spray Paint
Cricut Cutout
Vinyl (I use an affordable off-brand from Amazon that works great!)
Here is the vinyl I used
Step-by-Step Process
1️) Design in Cricut – I sized mine 4” wide x 3” high, though I plan to try 5” wide x 4” high next time.
📌 Attach vinyl, weed it out, apply transfer vinyl, then place it on the bottle and remove the clear film.
2️) Spray Painting – Hold the can 1-2 feet away, using light, sweeping coats to avoid buildup.
Let each coat dry at least an hour before adding another. I usually do 3-4 coats total.
Shine a flashlight into the bottle to check for uneven spots before finishing.
3️) Drying & Detailing – Patience is key! I let the bottle dry for a full day before carefully peeling off the vinyl with my weeding tool.
Some colors of Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover Paint & Primer stick better than others—test your color first!
4️) Final Touch – Once the design is revealed, I seal it with a clear coat for protection.
This Wine Bottle Light turned out so special, especially knowing the meaning behind it. If you ever need a reminder to slow down, take a breath, and reflect on what truly matters—this project is a perfect way to bring that energy into your space.
Would you like to add more personal reflections or adjust any details? I’d love to refine it further to align perfectly with your vision!
I really like spray painting glass. The possibilities are endless, what ever your imagination can dream up. So go out and spray paint and have some fun.
